Clarion Resort Pinewood Park
"All work and no play ...". That won't happen here because the Clarion Pinewood Park Inn Resort & Conference Centre offers the best of both worlds - a great place to work and golf.
Enjoy the luxury, personal service and amenities of the Clarion Pinewood Park Inn which boasts its own 18-hole, executive-length golf course, pro shop, driving range, snack bar & beverage lounge, and daily instructional program with a CPGA golf professional. Tee off at sunrise, midday or after dinner - the first tee is just a chip shot away from your room !
Pinewood Park Golf Course
Adjacent to the Clarion Pinewood Park Inn Resort & Conference Centre, the Pinewood Park Golf Course - an "executive length", largely par-3 layout - demands a solid tee game and a great short game. This is no simple "pitch & putt" as so many par-3 courses seem to be. In fact, there are only three (3) holes shorter than 150 yards and six (6) longer than 180 yards. Hitting mid-to-long irons and fairway woods to small greens will really test your game.
Pinewood Park Golf Course greens are small, often guarded by trees, putt fast & true, are always in top condition and hold approach shots well. Missed greens will test the short game, so good pitching and putting are paramount to saving par or salvaging a bogey. As a bonus, the course includes two short par-4s where a stroke lost elsewhere might be regained - but probably not !
| Yardage | Par | |
| Whites | 3136 yd | 28-28=56 |
Popular with both local golfers and Clarion Pinewood Park Inn guests, the course is busy, but play moves along quickly. Generally under 2-1/2 hours are needed to play the 18-hole layout. To warm up, tune up, take a private lesson with the CPGA pro, or participate in one of the daily golf clinics, stop by the driving range adjacent to the pro shop.
The well conditioned Pinewood Park Golf Course is the perfect place to fit in a round of golf while staying at the Clarion Pinewood Park Inn on business or during vacation. The "executive-length" venue is also ideally suited to fine-tuning mid-iron and fairway wood play, the short game and one's putting.
Osprey Links
Osprey Links, a Rene Muylaert design, is Blue Sky Region's newest championship layout. In terms of design, the two nines are distinct - the front side a classic links-style venue; the back nine a more traditional North American woodland layout. Osprey Links features lush greens, numerous water hazards (especially on the front / links nine), rolling fairways, extreme elevation changes, and more than forty (40) white, Ohio-sand bunkers.
Osprey Links is named for its front nine "links" design. With wide fairways, mounded perimeters and few trees, a long tee game promises several good birdie opportunities. But beware -in true links tradition, the greens are large, firm, fast and contoured but putt true ! There's a lot of water out there, too, as well as a few devilishly placed bunkers.
The back nine at Osprey Links rewards accuracy, "laying up" and strategic shot-making, moreso than distance off the tee. Tree-lined fairways, elevation changes, greens skirted with rough, bunkers, and long grass punish errant shots. The greens play much as they do on the front nine / links side, but are much harder to hit in regulation.
"Signature holes" abound at Osprey Links, and while the par-5 10th, the par-3 11th and the par-4 12th stand out, the entire stretch from the 10th thru 14th holes is a formidable test of club selection and shot making.
Osprey Links is wonderful test for golfers of all playing abilities, a challenge for even the most experienced players and longest hitters, and a "must play" when in Blue Sky Region.
